Reading: I have started my RIP reading! I started Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett today.  I have tried to read it several other times, but it has never stuck. It’s time has come because I was immediately hooked today!

Watching: For the first time in YEARS, we have TV! We have relied on Netflix and Hulu for several years, after we realized satellite was too expensive and we were never watching it anyway. Since we moved though, we found we had to get satellite internet because our only other alternative was AT&T and it stinks. We have bundled Dish Network and Hughes Net and it’s working perfectly! I found a show on the History Channel On Demand called Found and we binge watched it this weekend. There were only 6 episodes though and I really want to track down more. We all loved it.

Listening: I’m listening to The Winter People by Jennifer McMahon, also for RIP. It’s completely creepy and sad. I almost gave up on it, but Andi convinced me to keep going. Never doubt Andi people.

Playing: SIMS Freeplay on my phone. It’s safe to say I’m completely addicted.

Eating: It’s been spotty. I mean, I am EATING, but I haven’t been putting much thought into it. I ate granola bars and yogurt yesterday. And potato soup. Homemade. It’s one soup I’m pretty good at making!

Loving: Our new house!

Looking Forward: A day off tomorrow. I’m ready.

So, uh, hi!

Where did July and August go? Seriously! I have been so busy!

I got (something like) a promotion at work.

Our house is finally (mostly) finished.

We bought it.

We moved in.

We’re still (sorta) moving in.

And I can (gasp) breathe again. And, maybe, just hopefully do some other things too. Like, read! And hey! It’s Bout of Books Week! And, believe it or not, I have a LOT of my books unpacked! O.o It’s like a miracle!

I’m making a small list of books to try to read this week. I’ve been reading better, now that the house building/buying/moving hoopla is dying down. I’m going to keep it easy though. Here is my list. Any suggestions on which are good and which I should maybe wait on?

I Am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes
Shark’s Fin and Sichuan Pepper: A Sweet-Sour Memoir of Eating in China by Fuchsia Dunlop
Pond by Claire-Louise Bennett
Fierce Kingdom by Gin Phillips
The Shadow of What We Wore by Luis Sepulveda
The Dud Avocado by Elaine Dundy
The Shepherd’s Life: Modern Dispatches from an Ancient Landscape by James Rebanks

There. That looks like pretty good variety, if I do say so myself. What are you reading this week? Are you participating in Bout of Books as well?

Reading: I am deep into An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir and it is just incredible. I’m still working on More Was Lost by Eleanor Perenyi, which is so good.

Watching: The daughter and I are still working our way through Sherlock. She loves it, but is frustrated that she can only watch one episode a night!

We also went to see Wonder Woman yesterday and holy cow! It was so good! The boy was punching away in his seat and the girl had stars in her eyes. So good.

Listening: I started My Cousin Rachel by Daphne du Maurier this week. I’m reading it with some other blogging friends. It’s read by Jonathan Pryce and he is an amazing reader. So so so good.

Playing: Sims Freeplay. It is taking up way too much of my time but daaaang it’s fun.

Eating: The kids are making Daddy breakfast for Father’s Day and my son is frying me an egg. Pray it’s over hard. I don’t like runny yolks!

Loving: Air conditioning!

Looking Forward: Moving? Sometimes I think it’ll never happen.

Reading: I started collecting and reading NYRB books this year and I’m reading More Was Lost: A Memoir by Eleanor Perenyi right now. It follows the author and her husband’s lives post WWII in Czechoslovakia. It is wonderful.

Watching: Saturday, my daughter walked in while I was starting to watch the new season of Sherlock, since it finally hit Netflix. She watched the whole first episode with me and was completely lost. So, we’ve gone back to season 1 and she is so hooked. I can’t believe how young Cumberback and Bilbo look!

Listening: I started Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk by Kathleen Rooney Friday. It’s read by Xe Sands and, of course, I was immediately hooked. God, I love her voice. The book is pretty fun too.

Playing: SIMS Freeplay on my phone! Way too much!

Eating: Too much! Ha! We have a new Mexican restaurant in town and I am hooked on their carnitas. I could go for some right now!

Loving: there is a storm brewing outside right now and one of the only things I love about summer are the storms!

Looking Forward: Moving!! It should be soon now!
