Introduce Yourself #insixwords?
Cat-loving mother addicted to books
Monday started off slooooowly on the books front. I was off all last week to move to our new house and I came back to a shovel slap to the face full of work. The few times I had a minute to start an audiobook left me distracted and not really “clicking” with the story. Finally, around 4:30, a book clicked. I started The Family Gene: A Mission to Turn My Deadly Inheritance into a Hopeful Future by Joselin Linder and it took me so completely captivated hat I’d finished 20% of it by the time I got home.
After I got home and got everything settled to where I could sit down and read, I found that my iPad was dead. Since I had intended to read some more of I Am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes, my reading ground to a halt. Now that I am about to go to bed however, I think I’ll listen to some more of The Family Gene because goodness gracious it is fascinating.
This sounds like a fun challenge. I’ll come back to it when I have time to write one!
Tuesday was busy. I’m still catching up on projects at work. I had lots of jobs to do. Luckily, many were “thoughtless” so I could listen to my book. Y’all, I ALMOST finished The Family Gene today. I went to bed Monday night with 25% finished. I would have finished if fatigue hadn’t gotten the better of me. I think I’ll finish on the way to work.
Which means I’m in the market for another audiobook!
Book Spine Rainbow – I wish I had time to find enough books to do this! I haven’t unpacked very many yet! 😦
OMG is it controversial to say that about any book? Because I can think of a few books that I enjoyed much more in audio.
Anywho, I found my next audio today! I seem to be really into them lately. After trying out a couple, I settled down with The Vanishing Velázquez: A 19th Century Bookseller’s Obsession with a Lost Masterpiece by Laura Cumming. Diego Velázquez (1599–1660) was the official painter of the Madrid court, during the time the Spanish Empire teetered on the edge of collapse. I don’t believe I have ever heard of him, but I looked him up after starting this book and wow. His work was incredible.
I knew this would happen! The second half of the week just got too busy. That isn’t to say I haven’t been reading. More like I was too busy to hop on here and update this post. Ah, c’est la vie. I’m going to do a proper update on my reading in my Currently post today, but I will say here, while I wish my reading week and gone better, I still had a blast!
